soft Xpansion unveils version 7.2 of its Software Development Kit Print to Document 7. It also runs on Windows 7 and helps software developers to implement solutions for digitally based correspondence into document flow processes. Bochum, Germany, October 14, 2009 (PressReleasePoint) -- For a long time now, the share of digital channels in private, commercial and offical correspondence has been growing. More and more documents and data are sent in digital form rather than on paper. In the medium and long term, this change will result in cost reduction, higher efficiency and saving of time. But just as there is no natural, universal language for writing paper documents, there is no universal format per se for content storage of digital documents. The reason is that digital documents and data usually come from different sources: they are are written with numerous different software programs which support various file formats. USING A UNIVERSAL FORMAT However, despite the wide range of different document formats and their various purposes, almost every software allows printing of its contents (documents, text, images, dynamic data). And any information or data assigned for printing is transferred to the printing subsystem of the operating system in a single standardized format. As the course and requirements of the printing process are universally defined by the operating environment, this process can be used to generate and process a universal file format. The Software Development Kit Print to Document 7 takes advantage of the standardized printing process in Microsoft Windows: it uses the EMF format (Enhanced Metafile Format) to standardize the different file formats by converting them into one universal format. In this manner, the converted information may for example be used more easily in document management systems. The most recent edition of Print to Document 7 (internal version number: 7.2) may also be used on the new operating system Windows 7. A VIRTUAL PRINTER The Print to Document technology has its foundations in a so-called virtual printer. This printer (software) does not require any physical device (hardware) in order to fulfill its task, and secondly it does not really print anything to paper. On the other hand, a virtual printer is implemented into the operating system like any physical printer. Thus, it can be selected in the "Printers and Faxes" folder. The user simply chooses the necessary printer from the list of available printers on the computer. UNIQUE SELLING POINTS OF VERSION 7.2 * NEW: runs also on Windows 7 * Uses virtual printers to convert files into a universal format, thus it may be implemented in any application that can print content to paper * For 32- and for 64-bit operating systems (Windows based) * Strong functionality of components and methods * More flexible than previous versions. Reason: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT are no longer supported. As a consequence, the limitations forced by these operating systems no longer apply PRICES The price and licence type for Print to Document 7 depends on several parameters, one of which being the amount of documents to be processed: the Business Licence allows an unlimited use, while the Professional Licences limit the amount to a certain amount of documents. Prices start at 4900 Euros for a Professional Licence. For complete information on prices and licences, please send an e-mail to pr@soft-xpansion.com.
